COMPLETED IN COLLABORATION WITH ERNO CHEN FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND;  GIULIA FLORIS AND MARCO MORO FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF CAGLIARI, ITALY

An investigation into affordable living spaces in the context of Christchurch City. A reinvention of a forgotten industrial zone. A new mixed use housing typology for students, graduates, startup businesses. A future vision for adaptive living. A new mode of living.

The proposed project was for a new mode of living in the Christchurch City. The living spaces was to be an affordable 10m by 10m mixed use housing typology with a public amenity building in the core of the development to support the community living in the area and the areas surrounding the site.

One of the challenges was to propose a circulation path way through the proposed site, going across connecting the padestrian footpath from Moorhouse Avenue to Saint Asaph Street. The diagram below illustrates the predicted movement of flow of padestrians in the area. This path way was proposed in order to encourage flow of foot traffic from both the north and south towards the proposed new development.
